From the Release: "The UK average house price fell by 13.0 per cent in the year to April 2009, compared with a fall of 13.6 per cent in the year to March. Between March and April there was a rise of 1.1 per cent in the prices index of properties bought compared with a smaller rise of 0.4 per cent over the same period last year, resulting in an increase in the annual rate.

The rise in UK prices between March and April 2009 can be attributed to an increase in average prices for terraced houses (2.0 per cent), semi-detached houses (1.0 per cent), flats (0.9 per cent) and detached houses (0.7 per cent). The rise is partly offset by a fall in the average price of bungalows (0.7 per cent)."
