Archive Bank Officials' Comments

(ECB President Trichet)
-- Trichet explained, in a press conference following today's ECB
announcement to hold rates at 4%, that inflation risk is still elevated in the mid-term. He
continues to wait out more developments and did not use the word
"vigilance" regarding inflation concern. He did say he was ready to act
to stem the inflation, which he expected to be above the 2.0% target in
coming months.
