Symbols and Comments
CommentComments are notes you can place on top of a chart. They can be used for a multidude of purposes, including jotting trading notes, notes on price movements, or to note when important fundamenetal news reports came out and influenced the markets.
Placing a Comment
To type a comment in the active chart window, select the Comments tool either from the Drawing Toolbar or from the Tool Selector icon in the Chart Window's Toolbar. Both of these icons are highlighted in red below.
Type/Edit A Comment
The Edit Comments window pops up when you are placing a new comment, or editing an existing one. In this window you type whatever text you want, and you can choose from different fonts and sizes, and text and background colors for the new comment.
Once you click OK, the comment is now displayed inside your chart. In order to get back to this window after a comment is already on your chart, just right click the comment and select Properties.
You can reposition the comment, by clicking it and dragging to a new location.
The comment can also be rotated. If you place your mouse on any of the corners of the Comment, the cursor will change, and you can drag your comment to a new position.
Symbols
Symbols serve as a useful and quick way to place various shapes and pictures on a chart. You can choose from arrows, numbers, smiley faces, etc... These little markers can help you remember things about a particular part of a chart.
Placing a Symbol
Select the Symbol tool from the Drawing Toolbar or from the Tool Selector icon in the Chart Window's Toolbar. Both icons are highlighted in red below.
Once you have selected the Symbols tool click on the any space in the chart and you will be presented with a choice of which symbol to select. As soon as you click any symbol it shows up on the chart.
Editing a Symbol
You can move a symbol around by clicking on it and then draging it to a new location.To change a symbol's appearence, right click a symbol and select Properties.
From this Properties window you can change the color, size or symbol being used.
