  • MACD →

    Short for Moving Average Convergence/Divergence. It may be referred to as a momentum oscillator or a trend indicator.

  • Maintenance Margin →

    The minimum amount of margin that a trader must have available in his account in order to keep open, or maintain, a specific position.

  • Make a Market →

    A broker or dealer makes a market when it quotes both the bid and ask rates that they are willing to buy and sell at.

  • Manufacturing Production →

    Manufacturing production is the total output of the manufacturing sector of the Industrial Production figures.

  • Margin →

    A required amount to have in a deposit in order to purchase a currency on credit.

  • Margin Account →

    An account that allows leveraged buying or selling on credit and borrowing on currencies already in the account.

  • Margin Call →

    Action taken by the dealer to close a position when amount in margin is less than required.

  • Mark Carney →

    Mark Carney is the current Governor of the Bank of Canada.

  • Mark-To-Market →

    Profits and losses are summarized at the end of every trading session according to the market closing prices of the tradable asset and the account is marked-to-market daily.

    This refers to the time of day that a market closes. 5:00 PM EST is often the market close at spot forex brokers since the value dates for spot transactions change to the next value date at that time.

    A specialized dealer in a particular financial instrument that makes a two-way market by quoting both bid and ask prices.

    An order to buy or sell as close to instantly as possible at the best price available when the order is placed and received.

  • Market Rate →

    The current quote of a currency pair.

  • Market Risk →

    The risks that arises from general market forces, such as supply and demand, causing the value of an investment to fluctuate.

  • Market Value →

    Market value of a forex position at any time is the amount of the domestic currency that could be purchased at the then market rate in exchange for the amount of foreign currency to be delivered under the forex contract.
